I have previously written on the blog about the potential benefits of high load slow training in stimulating tendon adaptation. We recently were taught by Prof Henning Langberg from Copenhagen how to use microdialysis around the patellar and Achilles tendons. Microdialysis allows a small catheter behind the tendon to sample the biochemical environment. We are interested in the response of the tendon to load and our first study is looking at the acute effects of high versus moderate slow loading. Have a look at the video of Henning inserting the microdialysis catheter into my knee.
